Sensory what?

Sensory processing is how your brain "makes sense" or assigns meaning to the sensations you experience across your 8 sensory systems.

Regulation refers to your body's ability to respond to sensations in a way that meets the demands of your environment, social and cultural expectations.

HOW DOES SENSORY PROCESSING AFFECT ME?

THE 8 SENSORY SYSTEMS

VESTIBULAR PROCESSING

Sensory input received within the inner ear and responsible for making sense of movement. Detects direction and speed of your own movement- impacting balance, postural stability, and fluidity of movement.

Do I have a sensory processing difference?

Although sensory processing is more commonly discussed for certain individuals, such as those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or tantrums/behaviors- the reality is that everyone has sensory processing preferences and differences. Understanding your own sensory processing profile can impact your relationships with your family, how you manage stress and anxiety, and how you support your overall quality of life.

Sensory inclusivity may mean something different for everyone.

Sensory Lighthouse is here to help you navigate sensory processing and how it impacts you, your family, your workplace, your school, and your community.
